Call for Papers

The 1st ICRU International Conference on

World Sustainable Development (WSD 2019)

“Sustainable Community Development”

Hosted by 6 Rajabhat University and their 4 overseas University Networks

February 17-19,, 2019

At The Empress Hotel Chiang Mai

The world is faced with challenges in all three dimensions of sustainable development—economic, social and environmental. More than 1 billion people are still living in extreme poverty, and income inequality within and among many countries has been rising; at the same time, unsustainable consumption and production patterns have resulted in huge economic and social costs and may endanger life on the planet. Achieving sustainable development will require global actions to deliver on the legitimate aspiration towards further economic and social progress, requiring growth and employment, and at the same time strengthening environmental protection.  Sustainable development will need to be inclusive and take special care of the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable. Strategies need to be ambitious, action-oriented and collaborative, and to adapt to different levels of development. They will need to systemically change consumption and production patterns, and might entail, inter alia, significant price corrections; encourage the preservation of natural endowments; reduce inequality; and strengthen economic governance.

In 2015, more than 190 world leaders committed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help us all end extreme poverty, fight inequality & injustice, and fix climate change. We each have a role to play if we’re going to achieve these goals of a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable world.  By 2030, almost 60% of the world's population will live in urban areas, and most of that urban expansion will be in the developing world. Rapid urbanization puts pressure on supplies of fresh water, sewage systems, the living environment and public health. Let's embrace the technological and social benefits of cities by making sure they are safe for everyone and sustainable for decades to come. The 1st ICRU International Conference on World Sustainable Development (WSD 2019) is initiated as a venue for academicians and researchers to express and share their findings, together with building relationships and networks with others, so as with a purpose to mutually achieve the ultimate goals of United Nations’ sustainable development.

The conference sessions will be organized into multiple concurrent session tracks under the Sustainable Development Theme.

The tentative session tracks are:

1. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

2. Pure and Applied Science

3. Education for Sustainable Development

4. Computer and Information Technology

5. The King's Philosophy

6. Management and Economics

7. Humanities and Social Sciences

8. ASEAN Studies
